Process Plant As-Built Engineering Surveys
Site control is established by utilising either existing control stations or by installing new stations and coordinating these with our latest EDMs. Additional temporary control points are installed to assist in the registration of the individual scan data from each setup.
Using our state of the art laser scanners we capture the equipment, pipework, cable trays, ventilation ducting etc as well as the structural steelwork, floors and stairways. The scans from each set up are registered together to produce an overall as-built pointcloud or the plant and from this data we produce :
- 3D models in a variety of software formats
- Layout drawings and
- Cross sections
The registered pointcloud (both black and white or colourised) can also be imported by ourselves into LFM for use in PDMS.
With our engineering backgrounds we are uniquely placed to provide accurate as-built models for this type of infrastructure.
Civil and Structural as-Built Surveys
Over the last 15 years we have undertaken numerous civil and structural surveys of bridges, roads, tunnels and the structural elements of buildings.
A growing trend is to survey newly completed buildings prior to fit-out. The building is surveyed using our laser scanners and the design model is imported into the registered overall pointcloud. the M&E design can then be modified to reflect the as-built situation and avoids rework in the field due to cable trays, pipework, and ducting clashing with columns that have not been constructed in exactly the designed position. Metrics from the USA indicate that the by utilising laser scanning in this manner can reduce rework from 10% to 1-2%.
Again with our engineering background we are able to assist our clients in rapidly providing the relevant as-built pointcloud data.
